The craftsman training is provided with a view to prepare Semi Skilled workers for the Industry. The Educational qualification varies from class 8th pass to class 10th pass depending on the trades. The duration of training varies from one to two years in this Institute. The trainees after completion of craftsmen training appear in the all India trade test to get National Trade Certificate awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training, which is recognized for the purpose of recruitment to the subordinate technical posts at the shop floor level within the country as well as abroad.
Admission to Industrial Training Institutes in Tamilnadu is directed by the Directorate of Employment and Training Chennai admission process is based on merit in the qualifying examination prescribed for a particular trade and as per the recommendations of the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
Admission is conducted on the basis of average marks obtained in Maths& Science in 10th Std. Selection is also subject to Communal Rotation as per existing rules and relevant number of seats allotted to Women, Ex-service man, Physically Handicapped, Orphans, Sportsman, Rural School students etc. by the State Directorate for the purpose of admission.
